An original three-bedroom bungalow which had had an interesting two storey mono-pitch extension added at the front. Clients wanted extra Bedrooms plus a design which made much more use of the large (for Wivenhoe) south facing garden – plus simplicity. The monopitch was taken as a starting point, the bungalow footprint was retrained and the design was influenced by the repetition and simplicity of Japanese traditional architecture. Great emphasis was places on sustainability and the PV panels, which substantially cater for the energy needs of the house and the pool are almost ‘Integral.’ Building Regs. and Supervision were undertaken for me by Laurie Wood Associates
