St. Andrews Church, Alresford 1975
After St Peter’s Church burnt down on 2nd October 1971, the Congregation worshipped in the village hall, holding their Harvest Festival the next day! After four years of fund-raising, the new St Andrew’s and St Peter’s church, seating 200 people, was designed and built in the Essex-barn style. Closer to the modern village centre, it opened and was dedicated by the Bishop of Chelmsford in 1976.
In 2013, St Andrew’s opened an annexe, called The Hub, again designed by Bryan Thomas, This provided much needed extra space for community groups, as well as a new entrance, Vestry and storage space.
